The PG-PL Governor is widely used for controlling speed for all types of diesel or gas engines and steam turbines, driving pumps and compressors.
An internal oil pump, relief-valve, and accumulator system controls governor operating pressure. A self-contained sump stores oil and reduces contamination from outside sources.
The PG-EG Actuator converts a given electrical input signal into a proportional hydraulic output shaft position, to control engine fuel flow. The actuator provides the muscle for Woodward analog and digital controls.
The PG-EG Actuator is used on diesel engines to replace PGA/PGG/PGE-type governors, providing the advantages of electronic control with the convenience of the existing PG-type drive and linkage. We recommend the PG-EG Actuator for installations involving unattended starts.
These EGB governor/actuators are used with Woodward analog or digital electronic controls that provide a proportional 20–160 mA signal to control dual fuel, diesel, and gasoline engines, and gas and steam turbines driving electrical or mechanical loads.
Work capacity: 10, 13, 35 ft-lb (14, 18, 48 J)
The EGB-2P and EGB-1P are proportional electro-hydraulic actuators combined with isochronous or droop mechanical-hydraulic ballhead governors. While proportional actuators can be used in the same type of service as other actuator models, they are particularly well suited to engines operating in tandem to drive a common load.
The EG-3P/6P/10P (proportional) actuators are designed for use on diesel, gas and gasoline engines, or turbines. They are particularly well suited for use in control systems requiring a proportional mechanical output or a proportional electrical input.
Woodward PG Dial and Lever governors control the speed of diesel, gas, and dual-fuel engines in many fields. Their applications include engine driving pumps, compressors, alternators, variable-speed dc generators, marine propulsion units, and paper machines. Besides controlling speed, PG governors can also limit load and shut down the engine when the lubricating oil pressure fails.
The TG-13E and 17E proportional electro-hydraulic actuators convert an electrical signal to a corresponding proportional output shaft position to position the valve which controls the flow of steam or energy medium to the turbine. They are intended for controlling small steam turbines driving such loads as alternators, dc generators pumps, compressors, fans or papermaking machines. The actuators provide the “muscle” for a Woodward 2301, 2500, 501 (with a digital remote final driver), or similar integrating electronic control system.
The actuators provide a mechanical output position in proportion to a dc control signal.
The patented dirt tolerant and self-cleaning technology of Woodward’s VariStroke actuators ensure greater overall reliability of your steam turbine. Their superb accuracy and resolution make them ideal for steam valve control and related turbine speed and load control, where turbine up-time and availability is essential.
The UG products are mechanical-hydraulic governors for controlling diesel, gas, or dual fuel engines, or steam turbines. The governor provides extremely reliable speed control throughout the drive speed and temperature range. This proven design has been the industry standard for many years and its worldwide acceptance provides easy service in most engine and governor shops.
UG-Dial governors are particularly suited for constant speed applications. Knob speed settings make synchronization easy for generator applications. Motor speed setting is available for remote synchronization. Adjustable droop makes load sharing between engines precise.
UG Lever governors are widely used for variable speed control. Remote speed setting can be either mechanical through the speed setting lever or pneumatic with a special speed setting device. Special attachments are available for other applications.
The UG pump is designed for applications which reverse engine rotation.
The TM-55P Actuator is an electrohydraulic, proportional actuator for controlling diesel and gas engines or steam and industrial gas turbines. It is designed for use with Woodward analog and digital controls. The TM-55P will interface (with an adapter) directly to Woodward liquid and gas fuel valves.
The TM-25LP and TM-200LP actuators are electric-hydraulic, proportional actuators for positioning steam and fuel-control valves requiring low/high force linear inputs. Factory setting determines if the actuator output shaft extends or retracts on increasing current.
The PSG governor provides hydraulic powered travel in the increase-fuel direction only. A return spring is used to provide travel in the decrease-fuel direction. The standard PSG cover provides for a vertical return spring in the governor. Governor models are available with horizontal return springs, or the governor can be fitted with a customer supplied external return spring.
The 3161 governor is a mechanical-hydraulic device that senses speed to control dual fuel engines, diesel engines, or steam turbines. The variety of standard features and available options make the governor ideal for a wide variety of applications that require work capacity of up to 24 N-m (18 lb-ft). Applications include off-highway vehicles, industrial, marine, generator set, compressor, or pump drives.
3161 operation can be isochronous for accurate constant speed or frequency control, or droop for load sharing. The amount of droop may be changed internally or with an optional external lever.
Features include:
• Isochronous or droop control
• Manual, electric, pneumatic speed setting options
• Manual, electric, hydraulic shutdown options
• Fuel limiting options
• Torque rise, low idle offset options
• Terminal position indicator
• Operates with engine oil or self-contained sump
• Directly interchangeable with the UG8
TG611 Governors are API-611 compliant, self-contained, mechanical-hydraulic, speed-droop governors for use on small steam turbine driving pumps, compressors, or generators, where isochronous (constant speed) operation is not required. These governors are directly coupled to the steam-turbine’s rotor or auxiliary shaft to sense and control turbine speed.
These governors are designed for API-611-based turbine applications, and include a special Overspeed Test Device, allowing controlled and safe turbine overspeed trip testing.
Woodward’s Electro-hydraulic Power Servo (EHPS) is a fully integrated, three-stage servo valve that drives low-pressure steam turbine control valve cylinders. The EHPS, in conjunction with a new or already installed steam valve cylinder, provides the linear actuation force to operate steam turbine control valves or valve racks. This servo is ideal for retrofits where it is desired to upgrade the turbine control and hydraulic system but replace the expensive steam valve power cylinder.
